What Can Sno Neutral Current Rate Teach Us about the Solar Neutrino Anomaly

چکیده

We investigate how the anticipated neutral current rate from SNO will sharpen our understanding of the solar neutrino anomaly. Quantitative analyses are performed with representative values of this rate in the expected range of 0.8− 1.2. This would provide a 5− 10 σ signal for νe transition into a state containing an active neutrino component. Assuming this state to be purely active one can estimate both the B neutrino flux and the νe survival probability to a much higher precision than currently possible. Finally the measured value of the NC rate will have profound implications for the mass and mixing parameters of the solar neutrino oscillation solution.

Constraints on the Neutrino Parameters from the ‘Rise-up’ in the Boron Neutrino Spectrum at Low Energies

The rise-up in boron neutrino spectrum at low energies has been studied within the framework of ‘pure LMA’ scenario. Indirect bounds on the spectral ‘upturn’ have been obtained from the available solar neutrino data. These bounds have been used to demonstrate the efficacy of the precision measurements of the ‘upturn’ for further constraining the neutrino parameter space allowed by SNO salt phas...

Solar neutrino interactions: Using charged currents at SNO to tell neutral currents at Super-Kamiokande

In the presence of flavor oscillations, muon and tau neutrinos can contribute to the Super-Kamiokande (SK) solar neutrino signal through the neutral current process νμ,τ e − → νμ,τ e. We show how to separate the νe and νμ,τ event rates in SK in a model independent way, by using the rate of the charged current process νe d → p p e from the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory (SNO) experiment, with an a...

Solar neutrinos: global analysis and implications for SNO

We present a global analysis of all the available solar neutrino data treating consistently the B and hep neutrino fluxes as free parameters. The analysis reveals at 99.7% C.L. eight currently-allowed discrete regions in two-neutrino oscillation space, five regions corresponding to active neutrinos and three corresponding to sterile neutrinos. Most of the allowed oscillation solutions are robus...
